千野: お疲れ様です。今回は新シリーズ〈GRIFFIN〉ローンチに際してカメラマンの宇佐美くんと共に撮影をさせていただきました。
撮影とブーツの内容についてお話しできればと思います。

徳永: お疲れ様。撮影有難うね。撮り終えてみてどうだった？

千野: いつもと違う雰囲気の撮影でローダブのブーツを見せたいなと思っていて今回はそれが実現できて楽しかったです。

 

 

徳永: 写真見せてもらったけど素敵だったよ。少しドキッとするようなディレクションの撮影も含まれていたね。(笑) あれはどういう意図だったの？

千野: アンダーウェアの方の写真のことですよね。(笑) 全身のスタイリングでブーツを見せる写真と一緒に、ブーツにフォーカスした写真を見せたいなと思ったのが発端なのですが、ただブーツの寄りを撮っても面白くないなと思って何かないかなと。今回のもう一つのアイデア軸として「それぞれのローリングダブトリオ」というのがありまして。

 

 

徳永: モデルさんたくさん使って撮ってくれていたよね。それぞれのキャラクターの違いがよく出ていた。

千野: オシャレな服装とブーツ、というよりは色々な人間とブーツという見せ方にしたくて。ローダブが好きな方もバイカーでゴリっとした格好の方もいれば、シンプルにサラッとした格好の方や女性の方もいたりかなり幅広い層に支持されていると思うんです。それが素敵だなと思って色々な人種やカルチャーを感じる方を八木くんにキャスティングしてもらいました。八木くんは街で声をかけてモデルさんとして手配するストリートキャスティングと呼ばれる面白い仕事をしている人です。なのでほとんどが普段は別の仕事をしている方ですね。

徳永: そんな仕事があるんだね。綺麗すぎるプロのモデルさんよりもリアリティがあるのはそういうことか。

 

 

千野: それぞれの人間像を掘り下げていって、この格好の人はこういう下着を履いていた、という答え合わせみたいなこともできると面白いかなと。ブーツでヌーディなビジュアルというのも見たことがないですし、これってブーツの見た目の重厚感と丈感があるから成立するとも思いました。

徳永: 確かに見たことない。(笑)
あと女性も愛用してくださっている方はたくさんいるのだけどビジュアルでしっかり出てくるのは新鮮かもしれない。お二人とも似合っているね。

 

 

千野: 今回のグリフィンシリーズのブーツで普段の形よりも細身のスタイリッシュな印象だったので女性でも合わせやすかったというのはありますね。グリフィンの特徴としてはどういう部分になるんでしょう？

徳永: 普段はグッドイヤー製法でコバも張っていてボリュームがありタフな印象のブーツが多いんだよね。今回のグリフィンシリーズはダイレクトウェルト製法を採用していて、簡単にいうとリブというパーツがない製法。それに準じて色々なものを削ぐことができるしコバも張っていない分スマートに、ソールも薄くできる製法なんだ。

千野: なるほどですね。僕はエンジニアブーツが欲しいと思っていたけどタフな見た目のものというより綺麗な感じでソリッドに履けるものを探していました。今回のグリフィンのエンジニアは理想に思い描いていたような上品さがあったので絶対に買います。(笑)

 

 

徳永: 有難う。
特に今回はジョドファーブーツも力を入れて作ったのでオススメだよ。英国発祥の乗馬用ブーツでスタイリッシュなグリフィンとの相性がとても良い。

千野: 本当ですね。とはいえ使われているホースバットレザーによってローダブの大きな魅力の一つでもあるエイジングもしっかり楽しめる堅牢な作りでもあるという良いとこどりな点が素晴らしいです。

徳永: ぜひ皆様にも一度履いてみて欲しい一品です。

Chino: Good evening. I had the pleasure of shooting with our photographer, Usami, for the launch of the new “GRIFFIN” series.
I would like to talk about the shoot and the contents of the boots.
Tokunaga: Thanks for your hard work. Thanks for the shoot. How did you feel after the shoot?
Chino: I wanted to show off the low-dub boots in a different atmosphere than usual, and I had a lot of fun doing it this time.
Tokunaga: I saw the photos and they were wonderful. I was a bit nervous about some of the directional shots (laughs). (laughs) What was your intention behind that?
Chino: You mean the pictures of the undergarment. (laughs) It all started when I wanted to show photos that focused on the boots along with photos that showed the boots with full-body styling, but I thought it wouldn’t be interesting to just shoot the boots leaning in, so I was wondering if there was anything I could do. Another axis of the idea was “each rolling dub trio”.
Tokunaga: You used a lot of models in your shots. The differences in their characters came out well.Chino: I wanted to show a variety of people and boots rather than fashionable clothes and boots. Some people who like low dub are bikers, some are dressed in biker gear, some are simply dressed in casual clothing, and some are women. I thought that was wonderful, so I asked Yagi to cast people of various ethnicities and cultures. Yagi-kun is a person who does an interesting job called street casting, where he calls out to people on the street and arranges them as models. So most of them are people who usually have other jobs.
Tokunaga: I didn’t know such a job existed. Is that what makes them more realistic than professional models who are too beautiful?
Chino: I thought it would be interesting to delve deeper into each person’s image, and then answer questions like, “This person in this outfit was wearing this kind of lingerie. I had never seen nudes in boots before, and I thought it would be possible because of the massive appearance and length of the boots.
Tokunaga: I have certainly never seen such boots before. (laughs).
Also, there are many women who love the boots, but it might be new for them to come out with a strong visual. You both look good together.
Chino: The boots in the Griffin series are slimmer and more stylish than our usual boots, so it was easier for women to match them. What are the characteristics of Griffin boots?
Tokunaga: Usually, our boots are made by the Goodyear method and have a tough and voluminous impression. This time, the Griffin series uses the direct welt manufacturing method, which, simply put, has no ribbed parts. This method allows us to cut down on various things, and the sole can be made thinner and sleeker because there are no ribbed edges.
Chino: I see. I have been looking for a pair of engineer boots, but I was looking for something clean and solid rather than something tough looking. Griffin’s engineers this time had the elegance that I had ideally envisioned, so I will definitely buy them. (lol)
Tokunaga: Thank you.
I especially recommend the Jodphur boots since we put a lot of effort into making them this time. These riding boots originated in England and go very well with the stylish Griffin.
Chino: That’s true. However, the horsebutt leather used in these boots makes them robust and durable enough to enjoy aging, which is one of the main attractions of low-dubs.
Tokunaga: I would like everyone to try these shoes at least once.
Chino: I am glad to have heard such a useful talk. Thank you very much!
